Health & Safety Executive guidance within The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) recommends thorough examinations should be risk based and, accordingly, relevant supplementary tests may be requested by the competent person performing the thorough examination. Should the supplementary test not be undertaken by the next thorough examination (6 months for passenger lifts), a non-conformancy notice may be placed upon the affected lift.
